Subject: Sessions now live for the Teaching & Learning Conference (TLC) 2018

Hi everyone

 

Please could you flag with your members that the individual sessions are now live for the Teaching and Learning Conference 2018 at http://bbtlceurope.com/tlc/sessions/. There are lots of great presentations from you customers, talking about what you are doing in your institutions. A great source of ideas and inspiration.

 

There will also be keynotes including Volker Hirst; a panel discussion on Edtech

focus groups with Blackboard’s Product Managers, the Knowledge bar.

 

We have the free Academic Adoption Day on gamification on Monday.

There is Dev Con on the Monday and Tuesday.

Also on Tuesday is a Mobile/Collaborate (MoCo) User Group meeting (Tuesday 9th morning, https://community.blackboard.com/groups/mocousergroup  for details and sign-up, nb this is a hybrid session ie people can join remotely),

The Scandinavian User Group meeting (Tuesday morning) and an eTeacher workshop (certified training for staff in TEL).

 

The conference this year will be in the fabulous city of Manchester. If you wanted to make a weekend of it, there’s lots to see and do. Manchester University have some great webpages linking to key attractions. http://www.manchester.ac.uk/study/experience/student-life/city/

 

  • Manchester is the home of great museums: Science and Industry, the National Football Museum, the Manchester Museum, the People’s History Museum,  the Pankhurst Centre, Police Museum, Jewish Museum, etc.
  • Art Galleries: Manchester Art Gallery, Whitworth Art Gallery, Lowry (Theatre, gallery and arts centre); the John Rylands Library.
  • It also have great theatres (Opera House, Palace Theatre, Royal Exchange, Lowry, the Contact, etc),
  • and music venues (Academy, O2, Albert Hall, Gorilla, Deaf Institute, Manchester Areas, Band on the Wall, Matt and Phred’s).
  • Guided walking tours on a whole variety of topics: http://www.manchesterguidedtours.com/
  • You could also visit the BBC with the Blue Peter studios and garden, and a whole range of other sets.http://www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/tours/media_city
  • Shopping areas/centres: King Street, Deansgate, Market Street, Arndale, Trafford Centre, Harvey Nicholls, Selfridges and the Northern Quarter with its Craft Centre.
  • Not to mention sports teams: football: Bury FC, Manchester City and United; the Manchester Velodrome, the National Squash Centre; and rugby: Salford, Sale Sharks, Wigan and St Helen’s are also close by.
