Dear Sukhi Bains, Thank you for sending this message to Aurora list members. As one of the signatories of the petition asking the Principal of St Andrews to retract the threat to withdraw support for equality and diversity (see below), I would be interested to see a copy of the statement of 'St Andrews’ unshakeable commitment to E&D'. Whilst I am pleased that St Andrews has changed its policy on ASOS and that lecturers will now receive pay if they fail to reschedule classes, I remain deeply concerned about the Principal's reference to equality and diversity in terms of the university's financial priorities. I would like to clarify the support and funding from the University for the Aurora programme. Since the Principal came into post in 2016, the University has supported and funded 34 women on the Aurora programme. The University is committed to fully funding at least 10 academics and professional services staff on the Aurora programme annually, in keeping with the University’s Athena SWAN Institutional Action Plan signed-off by the Principal in November 2017.
