An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and positive individual to join the health economics team within Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS). We are seeking a Health Economist to contribute to the production of evidence reviews and advice for our three national technology assessment bodies: the Scottish Health Technologies Group (SHTG); the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN); and the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC).

Providing economics input to a range of products, duties include: producing rigorous reviews of health economics evidence; developing models to assess the cost effectiveness of interventions; undertaking resource and cost impact analysis; and support for research activity across the organisation. Your role will also involve publishing your work and contributing to scientific conferences in relevant fields when required.

This role requires a clear thinking and methodical approach with strong quantitative and analytical skills. You will have excellent report writing skills and the ability to work autonomously and manage and summarise large amounts of scientific information to tight deadlines. Strong influencing and communications skills to inform the decisions of senior clinicians and managers across NHS Scotland are required. Excellent interpersonal skills, supported by good oral, written and presentation skills are also essential.

You will be expected to have a relevant degree, a postgraduate degree in health economics (Masters level or equivalent), a sound understanding of economics concepts and practical, applied health economic evaluation experience.
