Polar Governance Workshop
The British Antarctic Survey, along with the University of Leeds and Royal Holloway, University of London, is organising its second Polar Governance Workshop: Polar Governance
in Action: balancing multiple interests and values in the management of Arctic and Antarctic tourism. At this event, experts from policy and academic communities will discuss and analyse the current cultural, political, commercial and environmental challenges
and opportunities associated with the governance of Arctic and Antarctic and its associated tourism activities. Our aim is to promote a space for discussion and networking, gathering different perspectives from the governance of the Polar regions which will contribute
to inform industry, communal and political management and public understanding of polar tourism.
The workshop will take place on 24 April 2018 – from 10:00 to 16:00 at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), located at 1 Kensington Gore, Kensington, London, SW7 2AR. Over
lunchtime attendees can view a selection of the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG)’s historic polar collections.

The Answer is in Nature: World Water Day Event
The University of Birmingham invite you to join us to be part of World Water Day 2018; a day of presentations and discussions of the newest developments in water science, policies and industries
under theme of “The Answer is in Nature”. The event takes place at The University of Birmingham on Thursday 22 March 2018 beginning at 09:30am with coffee and tea on arrival and finishing with a wine reception at 16:00pm. Lunch will also be provided. Attendance

RCUK Catapult Researchers in Residence Programme
The Researchers in Residence (RiR) initiative will support university academics for research visits/residencies to one or more UK Catapults. The scope of these residencies could cover accelerating
impact from RC investments and/or providing/generating information based on previous RC investments to support Catapult capabilities. The value of each award towards supporting a RiR is up to £50k (100% FEC), which may be flexibly spread between one and four
years. Funding will be awarded directly to the RiR’s host university (or other eligible research organisation) and not the Catapult. The award can only be used to cover the salary costs for the visit of each RiR, travel and subsistence costs, and any consumables
used at the Catapult.
