Members might be interested in the following events that accompany exhibtions at Flat Time House and Tate Exchange, Tate Modern relating to the archive of the artist Barbara Steveni, called the Southwark Educational Research Project (SERP) which is being Reactivated by Steveni and fellow artist Barbie Asante through Peckham Platform. SERP Reactivated: Reactivating the Archive

A discussion exploring the documentation of the creative process and the importance of reactivating and learning from the SERP archive. Joining the conversation will be Lloyd Trott Dramaturg at RADA who championed SERP as lead of cultural review at Inner London Education Authority, artists Barby Asante and Barbara Steveni with Ben Cranfield, Senior Tutor in Curatorial Theory at the Royal College. Following which, light refreshment will be provided and the opportunity to go on a tour of the Southwark Education Research Project Reactivated exhibition.

Join this discussion on the ethics of public engagement and artistic intervention in communities; and the critical influence that the ‘open brief’ developed by Artist Placement Group has had on social practice today. Facilitated by Gilane Tawadros Chief Executive at DACS and Vice-Chair of the Stuart Hall Foundation with the artists Franklyn Rodgers and Barbara Steveni, recipient of ART360 and Barby Asante, along with Emily Druiff CEO at Peckham Platform.

‘Performing the Curricular’ by Barby Asante and young people at The Charter School participating in SERP Reactivated. This is a durational work and actions will occur throughout the day.

SERP Reactivated: Curricula Of The Future

An opportunity to see ‘Performing the Curricular’ by students at The Charter School participating in SERP Reactivated. Followed by a conversation to reimagine a ‘future curricula’, facilitated by Janna Graham practice based researcher at Goldsmiths and a key figure in what has been termed the ‘educational turn’. Joining the conversation will be original SERP artist Rita Keegan, students from The Charter School and from University of the Arts London as well as Sophie Leach, AD magazine Editor, and formally subject leader for art and design at The Charter School. This will be followed by a break out session to reimagine a ‘future curricula’. Light refreshments served.
