York Trials Unit (YTU) is one of the UK’s leading centres for the design and analysis of randomised controlled trials.  Due to the continued success of the Unit, we are now seeking to appoint two new statisticians at either Grade 6 or 7.  You will join a team of statisticians under the supervision of Professor Catherine Hewitt.  The posts offer the opportunity to be part of a large and successful multi-disciplinary department, renowned for its methodological expertise and commitment to policy relevant research.

You will conduct high quality statistical analyses of trials, undertake statistical programming for checking, manipulating, summarising and analysing data, and assist (grade 6) or lead (grade 7) in the development of research proposals.  You will be encouraged to undertake dissemination of your research through publications, seminars and conference presentations and contribute to the identification of possible new areas of research.

Key requirements:

 - MSc in a relevant quantitative subject
 - PhD in a relevant quantitative subject or equivalent experience
 - Knowledge of the types of statistical methods associated with trials
 - Knowledge of how to design and analyse data from randomised controlled trials
 - Ability to program using a range of computer software packages (e.g. Stata)
 - Experience of writing up research work for publication
 - Experience of managing and analysing trial data

At grade 7 level, you will be expected to have a high level of statistical expertise, experience of supervising the work of others and a strong publication record.
