Applications are invited for the above post as a Principal Clinical Scientist- Band 8A post with progression to 8B on completion of FRCPath in our friendly, busy, biochemistry department.
The laboratory provides clinical biochemistry, serology, immunology and POCT services for Bolton and the surrounding community and our antenatal fetal anomaly screening service is amongst the largest in the UK serving Scotland, North West England and the North
Midlands.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated clinical biochemist to work across all areas of the biochemistry service in this stimulating and varied role. The postholder will
have the opportunity to develop areas of expertise in the field of fetal anomaly screening and point of care testing.
Laboratory Medicine is an extremely friendly, pro-active, multiple award winning department in which new service developments, R&D, and instilling new ways of working are part of daily
working. The biochemistry service has recently completed a major equipment refurbishment for biochemistry and immunoassay. The post holder would be expected to be a motivated team player, an innovator, and an excellent communicator at all levels. You would
join a senior team that includes a consultant biochemist, consultant chemical pathologist, ante-natal and biochemistry laboratory managers who have key roles supporting hospital patients, community services and the screening population. The Trust is an integrated
care organisation rated as ‘Good’ in its 2016 CQC inspection and has been in financial surplus since 2014
Candidates must have current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), hold at least Part 1 of Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists, have an MSc or equivalent in Clinical Biochemistry and have a proven scientific and professional
record.
