Sam & Joan McCready (Belfast, Northern Ireland)
Scheduled Events, February - April, 2018.

Note: Three of these events are inspired by the writings of Robert Harbinson (pen name of Robin Bryans; Belfast, 1928-London, 2005), the first working class Ulster Protestant writer to achieve international acclaim. The McCreadys' present attention to Harbinson brings fresh notice to his writings, and introduces Harbinson to a broader contemporary audience. (See Wikipedia page, Robin Bryans.) For the McCreadys' contribution to theatre and dramatic writing in Belfast, and their valued association with Yeats studies, see 'Sam McCready,' Wikipedia. For a recent online video, see "Talk Like That: Sam McCready." He is also an active, exhibiting painter. For Joan McCready, see The Irish News, 6 March 2017, with photos.

February 28. Sam’s solo Art Show, "Six Colours of Black," launched by Neil Shawcross, 6:30pm, February 28th. ArtisAnn Gallery, 70 Bloomfield Ave., East Belfast. Hours: 11am - 6pm. The exhibition runs throughout March.

March 16. Sam reads from Robert Harbinson’s glorious memoir of growing up in Belfast. Spectrum Centre, Shankhill Road, 7.30pm.

March 22. Sam’s book -- an adaptation of Robert Harbinson’s No Surrender (1960) -- will be launched by film director, Moore Sinnerton. No Alibis Bookstore, Botanic Ave., 7pm.

April 11-15. Production of No Surrender, performed by Sam McCready, directed by Joan McCready. Lyric Theatre. (For performance schedule & tickets, see < lyrictheatre.co.uk >)
