POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH STUDENTSHIPS

In the History and/or Philosophy of Genetics or Molecular Biology

The Darwin Trust invites applications for postgraduate research studentships tenable at any UK University from graduates, of any nationality, who wish to study for a PhD in the history and/or philosophy of genetics or molecular biology. The studentship will provide a maintenance grant of £16,000 per annum for up to three years and will pay necessary University fees.

Applicants must have been awarded their first undergraduate degree on January 2008 or later and should hold, or be expected to obtain, an academic qualification equivalent to a First Class Honours or Upper Second Class degree from a British University.  Applicants must have discussed a possible research project with their potential supervisor, and must have applied for a postgraduate position within the appropriate University Department, before submitting their application to the Darwin Trust.

Preference will be given to candidates who propose moving to a different University to that from which they have graduated.
