Upcoming Training Opportunities: Museum Development East Midlands
28th February, 10am-4pm - Sywell Aerodrome, Wellingborough
Copyright compliance is an important issue for museums and heritage sites, and also a requirement of being an Accredited museum. Any heritage organisation will have multiple and constant issues relating to copyright which will underpin
content and collection acquisition, loans, creation, commissioning, use and curation. This means that staff and volunteers need to understand how copyright works, its application to collections management, its relationship to digitisation and how they can
navigate more complex issues about orphan works, social media and creative commons licences.
This workshop, run by leading copyright specialist – Naomi korn – will provide an overview about the key issues presented in a powerpoint free and interactive learning environment. All the sessions will be supported by handouts and time
will be provided for group discussions, scenarios and questions. To book your place,

Customer Care - young people and families
28th February, 10am-3pm - The Angel, Market Harborough
MDEM's Mystery Shopper programme has provided valuable feedback about the impact of customer care and the role of museum staff on the experience of younger visitors. This training session will be led by consultants Laura Malpas and Davey
Ivens, and will challenge delegates to think about their approach to customer care; helping to identify and adopt the skills, attitudes and behaviours needed to make our spaces are welcoming to young people.
Aimed at front-of-house / gallery staff and volunteers as well as their managers and trustees. We welcome several delegates from a museum to attend the training. To book your place,

East Midlands Network Training Day: Curation and display of coins; learning and public programming
2nd March, 10am-3-30pm - University of Nottingham Museum
The Money and Medals Network exists to build and develop relationships between UK museums with collections of coins, medals, banknotes, tokens and associated numismatic objects. Training days featuring seminars led by contributors from local and national museums
are being provided across the UK with a view to sharing knowledge and expertise. Regional numismatic networks can then be set up as a result of these training sessions.
In addition to the talks and practical sessions, there will be an opportunity to see
Viking: Rediscover the Legend (British Museum and York Museums Trust) and the regional exhibition
Danelaw Saga: Bringing the Vikings back to the East Midlands These free events are open to anyone working or volunteering with numismatics in UK museums. To book a free place please email Michelle Johnson:
