Dear Colleagues, Members and non-members are all invited join us on Monday 19th March for the ISKO-UK AGM, followed by a meeting that will explore ethical dimensions of our work. Our venue is the well appointed Culture Space at the Canada Water Public Library, 21 Surrey Quays Road, London SE16 7AR (easy to reach via Jubilee Line). Leading the discussion we are tremendously lucky to have: * Patrick Lambe, always a star speaker, who will be asking what it means to be ethical as a professional in the field of knowledge organization; * Dave Clarke, whose analysis of post-truth phenomena made a great impact at our 2017 conference, will update us on his campaign to combat fake news and other insidious ways of influencing our opinions; * Nick Poole, CEO of CILIP, who is also actively campaigning against fake news and will highlight the role of information professionals as trustworthy sources; * Theresa Regli is a relative newcomer to ISKO UK, but has long international experience of ethical issues in digital asset management and will bring us new insights. Ethics has always played an important role in professional standards and with the prominence of false narratives, questionable research and concerns about discrimination, it has become very topical. More than ever language control, categorization and an understanding of the relationship between concepts informs our view of the world. Do come, and participate in the discussion. Attendance at the AGM is free for all comers, and non-members of ISKO are welcome as observers. The rest of the afternoon event is free to ISKO members and to full-time students. The fee for non-members is just £40. All are welcome to stay on afterwards for networking with wine and nibbles.
