CFP: New Directions in Irish Historical GeographiesConference of Irish Geographers, Maynooth University, 10 - 12 May 2018Session Organisers: Arlene Crampsie, UCD & Ruth McManus, DCU
The 50th Conference of Irish Geographers offers an opportune moment to
review the current place of Irish historical geography within the wider
disciplinary landscape. This session seeks to bring together historical
geographers with research interests in Ireland, whatever their specific
area of specialism, in order to develop a sense of the scope and health
of the sub-discipline today. We welcome papers, which are conceptually,
theoretically, methodologically and/or empirically based. In keeping
with the conference theme examining the past, present and future of ‘the
earth as our home’ we hope this session will highlight the importance
of historical contextualisation in helping us better understand
contemporary patterns and processes. We are, therefore, particularly
interested in submissions from colleagues whose research is bringing
historical geography directly into conversation with other
sub-disciplines and that crosses disciplinary divides.
Potential
contributors are asked to send proposed titles and abstracts of up to a
maximum of 250 words (clearly stating name, institution, and contact
details) to [log in to unmask] and [log in to unmask] by Friday 2nd March 2018.
