Islington Libraries and Heritage Service is seeking to employ a part-time archivist to assist with collecting and cataloguing for 'Islington's Pride', a new Islington LGBTQ+ archive project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The London Borough of Islington is proud to be in the forefront of LGBT+ rights campaigning, as well as being a spiritual home to the LGBT+ community and its activists. A number of organisations chose Islington as their base. These included the Gay Liberation Front, London Friend and London Gay Switchboard. Highbury Fields, the borough’s largest open space, was also the location of the capital’s first gay public protest in 1970.

Grade/salary: Scale 5 £24,135 p.a. (pro rata)

Contract: Fixed Term until 31/08/2019

Hours: Part time 17.5 hours per week

Project base: Islington Heritage Service, 245 St John Street, London EC1V 4NB
