2.1 DfE consultation - Strengthening Qualified Teacher Status and improving career progression for teachers

This consultation is about about ensuring that teachers have the right support in place at the beginning of their careers, improving access to high-quality professional development, and improving career progression opportunities for all teachers throughout their careers. For: teachers and organisations representing teachers; prospective teachers and trainee teachers; schools, school leaders and organisations representing school leaders; HEIs and their representative bodies; Initial Teacher Training providers and their representative bodies; local authorities, employers and governing boards. 2.2 New publication on teaching with technology

Paul Breen, a senior lecturer in academic English and teacher education in The University of Westminster, has released a new publication relating to technology, teacher education and the TPACK theoretical framework. 'Developing Educators for the Digital Age' traces the stories of four teachers in a higher educational context who come to a better understanding of integrating new technologies into their teaching over a period of two years through a series of workshops and pedagogy-focused technological knowledge. 2.3 Call for Proposals - Horizons in STEM Higher Education Conference 2018, University of Hull, 28 - 29 June 2018

The call for papers is open for the 2018 conference, ‘Making Connections, Innovating and Sharing Pedagogy’. Contributions may be about teaching innovation and pedagogy within STEM, or where more subject specific discussions might ensue. Conference themes: Enhancing the student experience; Students as partners in teaching and research; Employability; Equality and diversity; Learning spaces; Practical/Field work;  Team work and peer assessment;  Assessment and Feedback;  Active learning; Developing pedagogic research practice.

2.4 Teaching and Learning Conversations (TLC) webinar, 27 February 2018, 12.00 - 13.00

TLC is an open, cross-institutional collaboration to provide joint CPD opportunities for everybody teaching and/or supporting learning in Higher or Further Education. 2.5 ALT West Midlands meeting - It's all in the mix: new blended learning opportunities for educators, University of Birmingham, 28 February 2018, 10.00 - 15.00

From MOOCs, to the flipped classroom, to hybrid and micro learning, blended learning in all its diverse forms plays a significant part in the life of most educators and those who support them. It challenges us to examine and evaluate our pedagogy and our learning spaces and even our professional identity as it can impact at every level of our practice.

2.6 Call for Proposals: PressED Conference, online, 29 March 2018

2.9 ALT Northern Ireland Members Group launch, Ulster University, 9 March 2018

This half day event marks the launch of the ALT Northern Ireland Members Group. The morning will showcase educational technology across Ireland and across all sectors. As this is also International Women’s Day women’s role in the field will also be celebrated.

2.10 Research and Innovation in Distance Education and E-learning Conference 2018, Senate House, London, 16 March 2018

Registration is now open for this annual one-day event. The theme is Learning Design: Integrating Learning, Teaching and Student Support; the event explores new directions and developments in distance education and technology-enhanced learning. With a strong research focus, it incorporates outputs from the CDE’s programme of Teaching and Research Awards. 2.11 Intelligent Campus Community Events: Sheffield Hallam University, 23 March 2018; University of Glasgow, 10 April 2018

The community of practice gives people an opportunity to network, share practice, hear what various institutions are doing and what Jisc is doing in this space.
