Dear SocRel postgraduates and early career scholars,

The SocRel study group has been undergoing a makeover, you may have seen our new presence on the BSA website. Here, you can now find details on funding, events, the mentoring scheme, and current and past editions of Socrel News.

We have recently created a Socrel Twitter account (do follow!) with the aim of bringing together specialists and non-specialists in contemporary religious issues to increase the profile of the Sociology of Religion within Sociology. And, to share all of your exciting research. We have also created a Facebook page  BSA Sociology of Religion Study Group to do the same (come “like” us!).

We are looking to build our online presence and visibility through these social media pages, and we would really like for you to get involved.

Throughout 2018, we would love a postgraduate student or an early career scholar to take control of the social media accounts for a themed month of your choosing. For example, for the month of February, you may wish to tweet/Facebook and share research on ‘religion and politics’. In March, a new person takes control and they may choose the theme ‘religion and gender’, for example. You could post links to articles, blog posts, calls for papers, etc. A great example of what we would like to see is the British Sociological Association Twitter account, but with focus on a particular theme. This will help provide a diverse and active digital presence for SocRel.

Please contact Liam Metcalf-White at [log in to unmask] with 100 words on the theme of your choosing and a short biography if you are interested in taking over the social media pages in February. Submissions should be sent in by Friday 26th January.

We are looking forward to receiving your ideas!
