Dear Colleagues
A new publication ‘Guidelines for the Care of Larger and
Working Historic Objects’ is being launched on Thursday 15 February at the
Museum of Science & Industry, Manchester. The Guidelines are intended for
all museums, organisations and individuals that have larger and or working objects
in their collections, including those that do not specialise in transport or
engineering, such as social history museums.
Publication of the Guidelines will be followed by two FREE regional
seminars, to promote their dissemination throughout the sector and highlight
good practice through four case studies at each event. The seminars are to take
place on:
Thursday 22 February at Aerospace Bristol, Filton, South Gloucestershire
Tuesday 20 March at Kelham Island Museum, Sheffield, South Yorkshire (in partnership with the Yorks. & Humbs. Federation of Museums & Art Galleries)
We hope that you may be able to attend one of these events yourself and also
share with colleagues and others. Bookings can be made via Eventbrite using the

The Association of British Transport & Engineering
Museums, a non profit-making group, exists to provide a forum for the
discussion of matters of common interest to transport and engineering museums
and to provide a means of representing their views on issues of national and
regional concern.
