I’m all for starting a revolution! Attached are some of my initial thinking (which is evolving a lot since a visit to Cape Town with colleagues in educational development there) that finds me focusing a lot more on compassion, alongside of criticality and citizenship. The slides are from a conference presentation I did over this past summer. The paper associated with it, alas, is half written as well. Sara Dr Sara M. C. Thank you, Sara. I love the idea of the pedagogy of compassion. I have a half-written piece on the pedagogy of kindness that I plan to complete one day! I think we should rehabilitate terms such as compassion, kindness and generosity in higher education. I think there's something in 'good' teaching that's akin to generosity of spirit... but of course it's not currently fashionable to write or even think in such terms. Hi all, I have written a slightly unusual blog post for me. Instead of focusing on learning analytics or data ethics I have been thinking about the nature and purpose of education.
