Hi all,
Very useful to have such lists! I just wanted to note that REDcap represents an important region within the ELN spectrum as opposed to broader ELN capability as it is usually used more specifically for clinical research questionnaires (with volunteer patients etc). However, being open source it has certainly been adapted in various ways and for various purposes, including by ourselves alongside other components in the BRISSKit project - http://www.brisskit.le.ac.uk.

What is BRISSKit? Please see our short animated explainer below which gives an accessible overview of the platform and why it could be of use to you or your researchers!

Hope that's helpful.

Hi
Great work – we really need this.
Read your Guidance page and saw you left out REDCap which was specifically developed for clinical studies and is probably the most successful ELN out there. https://projectredcap.org/ .
Also, you do not mention IT security. Before implementing an ELN, the institutions IT security office should be contacted.
I’m writing a paper on the issues we found here at the U of Utah with deploying an ELN institution-wide – LabArchives. The issues would be relevant to any/most ELNs. I’ll add it to the discussion forum when ready.

Subject: Electronic lab notebooks - can you help?
Hi all,
Following some research and a trial of several ELN products last year in the University of Cambridge, we concluded that it would be inappropriate to recommend any particular product(s) over the rest, and we’re therefore working to produce some online guidance that might help interested researchers and PIs to identify a product that would would be a good match for their interests, workflows and preferences.
As a complement to the guidance page, we’ve set up a discussion forum where I hope knowledgable users might share their experiences, and where prospective users can ask questions and dispel some of their anxieties about making the leap from paper to digital documentation. And here’s where I hope you might be able to help - if you know of successful/happy ELN deployments within your institutions, I’d be VERY grateful if you could draw attention to the following pages, and encourage users to engage and contribute. And, of course, if you or your colleagues can think of ways in which we might make these resources more useful, I’d be very pleased to hear from you.

Thanks very much for your time, and for any help you can provide.
Best regards,
Al
