Officer as a fixed term nine months maternity cover for our
communications team.

The Science and Technology Facilities
Council is one of Europe’s largest multi-disciplinary research
organisations, working with some of the most exciting and
inspiring science in the world. We operate five laboratories
across the United Kingdom and manage the UK’s involvement in
major international science bodies including CERN.
We currently need a Press Officer as
maternity cover for nine months. We are looking for someone
that will work to inspire and excite the wider world about the
research we support - whether it be particle or nuclear
physics, space science, astronomy and cosmology, environment,
biology, medicine, computing, the provenance of ancient
artefacts, or more.

Contract Type: Fixed Term (nine months)
Hours: Full time (42 hours per week).
Location: Polaris House, Swindon
Closing Date: 25th January 2018
Interview Date: 6th February 2018
Main duties will be to:
•proactively research, write and issue
press releases on the whole of STFC science and technology
•assist with STFC press
briefings/conferences as required
•respond to media enquiries by providing
direct information or contacts
•advise on and plan, promotional
opportunities for STFC and its various departments
•contribute to the maintenance of an
effective issues management programme
