Application process
Applicants should email the following to Doug Knock, HLG Awards Co-ordinator

a) Which conference you hope to attend and why?
What do you hope to gain from attendance? Where possible please reflect on the programme and consider how your attendance at this specific conference is particularly relevant to this stage of
your career.
b) Why should the CILIP Health Libraries Group fund you?
Give examples of your professional engagement and how you might share your learning with colleagues.
Applicants should confirm that they will be able to attend the conference if successful and, where applicable, indicate that their line manager has given approval for them to attend.
Applications must be received by 17.00 on Wednesday 28th February 2018.
Judging Criteria
The judging panel will consider how applicants
Preference will be given to applicants who have not been a recipient of an HLG Bursary over the previous 5 years.
Leslie Morton
Leslie Morton was an inspiration to generations of medical librarians and was highly regarded by many members of the medical profession. In every way he was a remarkable man who was an outstanding
medical librarian, bibliographer and medical historian. A driving force in professional affairs he was a founder member of the Health Libraries Group and a leading organizer of the first International Congress on Medical Librarianship (1953). He enjoyed warm
relations with professional colleagues in the United States, which he visited several times. He received the highest medical library association awards in Britain and North America - the Cyril Barnard Memorial Prize in the UK and the Marcia C. Noyes Award
in the US.
