Colleagues The School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Bradford is looking for three dedicated individuals to undertake the role of external examiner for our Undergraduate Computer Science programmes to commence immediately. Computer Science offers five undergraduate programmes: The BSc (Hons) Computer Science focuses on how to develop the next generation of software tools and systems, and enables graduates to gain the knowledge and techniques required to design and exploit computer technology. The BSc (Hons) Computer Science for Cyber Security blends core computer science disciplines with specialist areas of cyber security such as cryptography, security technologies, computer communications and networks and electronic business. The BSc (Hons) Computer Science for Games combine the fundamentals of computer science with the latest in games design. The programme gives students the technical principles and know-how they will need to excel as a games designer, and practical development experience using modern games engines such as Unity and Unreal. BEng (Hons) Software Engineering focuses on developing skills to create and innovate through information technologies and computer programming. It is designed for problem-solvers, looking to address challenges in our interconnected, technology-orientated society. The BSc (Hons) in Business Computing combines the core elements of our Computer Science curriculum with internationally renowned teaching from our School of Management. All five programmes share a common first year allowing students to transfer between them before the start of the second year if they feel an alternative course suits students' emerging interests or career aspirations better. An overview of your role and responsibilities includes: Confirming the comparability of standards of student performance at University of Bradford with those of similar modules at other UK Institutions of Higher Education; confirming that the assessment process in its entirety is sound, and has been fairly conducted with full regard to justice to students; reporting and advising on the above by means of approving coursework and examination papers and providing an annual report to the University. The appointee will be required to moderate a sample of work and you will also be required to produce an annual report and attend Boards of Examiners as appropriate. You should have appropriate expertise/experience in the areas of the computer science and/or software engineering, be able to undertake a role in the assurance of academic standards in Higher Education and should be aware of modern developments in the design and delivery of the flexible curriculum. You should not hold more than one other UK Higher Education External Examiner post at the start of the contract and be qualified to at least the level of the programme to be examined. Preferably you should be a HEA fellow.
