Plymouth Marjon University* is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for its new MSc Sport Rehabilitation programme. This appointment will commence with immediate effect and will end on 30th September 2021.

The MSc Sport Rehabilitation will provide students with the education and practical skills training necessary for eligibility for Graduate membership with The British Association of Sport Rehabilitators and Trainers (BASRaT). The programme fulfils the key areas of the BASRaT Role Delineation, in order to provide graduates with the knowledge and skills required of a Graduate Sport Rehabilitator. Adopting a multi-disciplinary approach towards teaching and learning, it draws from the academic disciplines/sub-disciplines of strength and conditioning, sports science and psychology that underpin Sport Rehabilitation in the wider field. Accordingly, it is designed to fully prepare students with the knowledge, proficiencies and employability skills to ensure that they are practically competent in professional practice and prepared for employment.

The External Examiner would be expected to visit the University annually and submit an annual report. A fee is payable in line with sector norms, along with reasonable expenses.

Recent External Examiner experience is desirable, although the University will provide a mentor for first-time External Examiners. In addition, all new External Examiners will be invited to an annual induction event in April 2018. The full criteria for the appointment of External Examiners are set out in section 4 (page 11) of the University External Examiners' Handbook, which can be accessed at https://www.marjon.ac.uk/about-marjon/institutional-documents/handbooks-regulations-and-procedures/external-examiners-handbook-2016-17-v3.doc.
