A 1080 has exactly 2x the cores of a 1060, and (non turbo) has a faster clock and higher memory bandwidth. The impact of 2x6GB vs 1x8GB of RAM would depend on the application and how you use it.

ie - for typical applications 1x1080 would be superior to 2x1060

In the CCPEM-archives, there were some emails regarding gaming
laptops. Does anyone really use any gaming laptop for processing?

Any suggestion is much appreciated!
