I am or at least was solidly middle class, and the careers advisor at my state school told me it was completely pointless to apply for oxbrdige, because the school had no resources to help me do so. This seems quite different to the Oxford graduate I was talking to, who was told what college to apply for and so on.

I had good start in life, but children seem to experience education in different ways.
