It really seems that non-academic writers are actually more academic than the so-called academic writers, though I'd have to make an exception in the case of the academic John Berryman whose emphasis on voice and command of the eccentric and arcane rockets him right up there into the stratosphere with the best of the non-academics. Much of Creeley, you know, is just Berryman on a starvation diet.
