Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer in Health Economics based within the Centre for Primary Care and Public Health in the Blizard Institute, Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London. The Centre delivers world-leading research and education to inform and support national and global health care and public health. With over 150 staff, trainees and students, the Centre is one of the leading primary care, public health and health services research centres in the country, ranked 5th out of 32 in the 2014 REF.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic researcher to take up this unique opportunity within the prestigious Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research (AUKCAR), collaboration between leading asthma researchers from 13 universities across the UK, jointly led by the University of Edinburgh and Queen Mary University of London. See http://www.aukcar.ac.uk/ for further details. The post-holder will work with Professor Borislava Mihaylova, the recently appointed AUKCAR Chair in Health Economics, and contribute to the work of the collaboration by developing high quality methodological and applied work in health economics of respiratory health and asthma. In the first instance, you will contribute to studies on development of core economic outcomes for asthma research and evaluating impact of quality of air improvement policies on people’s respiratory health. You will also contribute to teaching and supervision of students and junior staff and be supported to seek external funding to further develop your career.

You will have a higher degree in (health) economics or other relevant subject, a growing research trajectory in health economics and relevant experience of applied and methodological research. You will also be a strong communicator of the principles and value of health economics and passionate about developing high quality evaluative research contributing to improvements in population health. The ability to work flexibly, independently and as part of a team is essential.

The post is full-time (part-time could be considered) and fixed term for 3 years in the first instance. Starting salary will be in the range £40,865 to £50,881 per annum inclusive of London Allowance depending on qualifications and relevant experience.
