About the opportunity

The Biostatistician roles at HEO6 and HEO7 will report to the Senior Clinical Biostatistician.

Biostatistician HEO6: you will have the opportunity to collaborate with and provide statistical support to clinical and allied health researchers, basic scientists and CTC collaborators. There will also be opportunities to apply and develop statistical methods to problems arising from clinical and biological research. You will be working with other biostatisticians to perform statistical analysis of clinical trials and associated data (meta-analyses, data linkage and genome wide association studies) using various statistical packages.

Biostatistician HEO7: you will provide statistical/methodological leadership in conjunction with high quality statistical advice, and support to researchers, collaborators and research students. In addition to the activities performed at the HEO 6, there will be opportunities to apply statistical methodology to clinical research problems and conduct statistical analyses of clinical trials data. You will contribute to CTC teaching activities (external short courses) assist in the formal post-graduate curriculum as well as the CTC’s outreach activities.

We are looking for a Biostatistician for the HEO6 role with:

experience in using statistical software, possess high level computing skills, including standard desktop applications
proven ability to work through problems systematically and co-operatively with colleagues, line manages, study managers and implement agreed solutions
demonstrated ability to maintain high work standards with guidance and minimal supervision
relevant degree (statistics/mathematics or similar) and experience in statistical data analysis.

We are looking for a Biostatistician for the HEO7 role with:

preferably post-graduate qualifications in biostatistics or related discipline with at least 4 years relevant experience as a biostatistician working on clinical trials or other biomedical research projects
proven experience in statistical analysis programming in at least one software package (e.g. SAS), and demonstrated capacity to develop skills in other statistical software packages (e.g. SPSS, STATA, R)
proven excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day to day operational matters
demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team, sometimes under pressure with competing priorities and sometimes limited supervision, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work
demonstrated ability to apply standard procedure and work in accordance with regulations/standards, required in a research intensive institution/environment.

These roles have been designed for early career biostatisticians who are looking to continue a career in Biostatistics and have relevant experience to build a career in a clinical environment.
