Subject: The start of the Centre of Excellence in Research on Ageing and
Care (20182025)

Apologies for cross-posting

The Centre of Excellence in Research on Ageing and Care (CoE AgeCare) is one
of the 12 Centres of Excellence that are funded by the Academy of Finland in
2018–2025. The Centre includes more than 20 social policy analysts,
sociologists and gerontologists from the Universities of Jyväskylä, Tampere
and Helsinki who work together in analysing the challenges and opportunities
that the ongoing societal transformation into to the aged or the superaged
society is bringing forward. Research teams of the CoE are led by prof Teppo
Kröger, prof Marja Jylhä, Dr Outi Jolanki, Dr Sirpa Wrede and Dr Sakari
Taipale. This is not a merely Finnish project as we are working together
with a large global network of leading researchers of ageing and care, and
as we address international and global dimensions of ageing and aim to
contribute to the international debate.

CoE AgeCare has now started and just published its home site
<https://www.jyu.fi/hytk/fi/laitokset/yfi/en/research/projects/agecare> ,
which also includes a welcome blog
<https://www.jyu.fi/hytk/fi/laitokset/yfi/en/research/projects/agecare/blog>
. From now on, for the next eight years, the home site will follow keenly
the research work, events, publications and other activities of the CoE.

Among its activities, the Centre will organise a number of international
workshops, conferences and summer/winter schools that will support
particularly early career researchers to develop their skills, perspectives
and academic networks. The CoE will organise its International Kick-off
Conference and first Summer/Autumn School in Jyväskylä, Finland in Autumn
2018. Closer information on this event will follow during the spring.

The freshest CoE AgeCare info is always available in Facebook
<https://www.facebook.com/coeagecare/> and Twitter
<https://twitter.com/CoE_AgeCare> (also in English, in addition to
Finnish). Welcome to follow our accounts.
