Dear Mailbase,

I would like to draw attention to an exciting replacement Principal Clinical Scientist post (Band 8b) at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust currently being advertised on NHS Jobs (REF 439-SSC-17096) with a closing date of 26th January 2018 (this Friday).

County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest integrated care providers in England, serving a population of around 600,000 people. We are a high performing organisation with a track record of success. Clinical Biochemistry provides a comprehensive service to the acute hospitals and surrounding clinical commissioning groups from two main sites at Darlington and Durham and a developed Point of Care testing service in primary and secondary care. The laboratory offers a range of routine chemistry and immunoassay analysis as well as HbA1c testing, sweat testing and xanthochromia analysis. The laboratory continuously assesses and improves its testing repertoire and we have recently introduced P3NP testing. The department has installed the latest automated analytical solution from Siemens and has recently been accredited to UKAS standards. The LIMS is provided by Clinisys (WinPath).

Interested candidates must have current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and hold Part 1 and Part 2 module 1 of Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists, have an MSc or equivalent in Clinical Biochemistry and have a proven scientific and professional record. Durham and Darlington are exciting places to live with vibrant, expanding centres which are close to beautiful countryside. Both benefit from excellent transport links to the rest of the UK. A visit to the laboratory is highly recommended to see what the laboratory and the local areas have to offer you.

Please note this position requires a Disclosure Barring Service check (DBS) formerly CRB.

Interviews to be held on Tuesday 27th February 2018.
