Dear Mitch,

Merry Christmas indeed!

We have been celebrating Christmas here in Sweden with a traditional Christmas Eve dinner — Christmas ham, langkål (a special green cabbage boiled in bullion, then cooked a second time in cream), rödkål (a shredded red cabbage dish), boiled potatoes, and winter ale. Then we took nap for an hour or so to digest, and we had coffee and a little bit of chocolate for dessert.

For Christmas Day, we plan on a tasty dinner of fried cod with tased potatoes and sautéed spinach.

Over the days after Christmas, I will give some thought to your question on curriculum.

For now, best wishes for the holiday.

Yours,

Ken
