Thanks Lindsey, my thinking is to arrange a face to face assessment (not sure a teleconsult would help) and perhaps in advance of this request consent to write to the GP / Specialist and see what I get. Hopefully this may further help support one way or another.

Hi

I've had this before and it's always a contentious one. Whatever your own opinion might be Its usually one of those that is easier to recommend, or not, in a business if you have back up of GP/Specialist reports. Advice on lifestyle and weight loss are usually relevant also as - at the risk of being cliché'd - those that request this sort of thing are often unhealthy and overweight and don't fit well into an economy class seat anyway. You then risk getting into the debate about it being hard for a regular business traveller to lose weight and change the lifestyle where they have a point but that's a whole other discussion. So much of what we do is underpinned by underlying health and attitude and this is one of those.

Thanks

Lindsey

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] Advice

Good morning
Does anyone have any advice or had any experience with employees who are required to fly long haul and them requesting to fly business class only, they state they have a high risk of DVT. Info to date (appointment yet to be completed) is Oedema and high DVT risk, osteoarthritis (had surgery to remove veins) and requires a flat bed / seat tip (only get this in business class). At this stage am yet to review but not convinced this would be a recommendation as there are several other recommendations individuals can do to help reduce risk i.e. flight socks, regular movement. However, I would like to seek the opinions of others who may have had similar cases and maybe aware of why this may be a supporting recommendation.
Many thanks.
