The Bodleian Libraries Centre for the Study of the Book announces a Summer School in 2018, 25-29 JUNE [note correction of date!]:
The Scientific Image
The course is convened by Roger Gaskell.
Themes: Origination and transfer of images; relief, intaglio and lithographic printing; the role of the author, draughtsman and printmaker; formal analysis of images; text-image relationships; bibliographical description and cataloguing;
the history of scientific, technical, medical, and natural history illustration.
The course includes examination of material from the Bodleian Libraries Special Collections, with lectures and demonstrations.
