Salary                                    £26495 to £38833 per annum (pro rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience (minimum £29799 with relevant PhD). Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance

 

Applications are invited for the above post based within the Division of Primary Care, School of Medicine. This new Research Associate/Fellow post has been created to support the research of the Primary Care Epidemiology Research Group.

The successful candidate will provide support for a range of research activities within the Division of Primary Care Epidemiology Research Group. This will include undertaking original research to evaluate the uptake and outcomes of the NHS Health Checks Program. This will be achieved through the analysis of data from the anonymised QResearch primary care database linked to hospital data. The successful candidate will be expected to plan and conduct the work in accordance with the protocol. The successful candidate will be responsible for checking and manipulating datasets for analysis and, will carry out a number of complex statistical analyses and present the results for discussion and interpretation. The successful candidate will lead on the preparation of manuscripts for publication and the drafting of reports to the funding body. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to assist with other ongoing research projects within the Primary Care Epidemiology Research Group. The post would ideally suit someone who has recently obtained their PhD who is planning an academic career in medical statistics or epidemiology.

 

Candidates must have a PhD (or be nearing completion) in medical statistics, clinical epidemiology, health services research, public health, statistics or similar subject with a strong numeric component; have in depth understanding of research methodology and epidemiological methods and be able to carry out statistical analyses using Stata, interpret findings and present results. Candidate must have some research experience in a UK health research setting and a track record of at least one peer reviewed research publication in health research/epidemiology.

 

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 14 months and is available from 1 February 2018.The post is available full-time (36.25 hours per week) however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week - days to be agreed). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements will be considered for this post.
