We are looking for a Research Assistant to join the Measuring and Analysing Socioeconomic Inequalities in Health Programme within the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit, University of Glasgow. The post-holder will support the
principal investigator, Dr Anna Pearce, in the development and execution of a new research project which seeks to document socio-economic differences in children’s health in cohort and administrative data (in Scotland and the UK more widely) and examine policy
options for their reduction.
This post offers a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong quantitative background and a keen interest in the social determinants of health to gain research experience at a leading research establishment, with the view to developing
a career in the field of social and public health research. The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and funding proposals as well as help manage and direct this complex and challenging project,
as opportunities allow. Formal and on-the-job training will be provided, including transferable skills such as team working, academic paper writing, and communication of findings to a range of audiences. There will be some flexibility to adapt the post according
to interests and expertise and to work with other colleagues in the Measuring and Analysing Socioeconomic Inequalities in Health programme.
