The 4th Public Engagement & Performance Conference
The Hepworth, Wakefield, March 15th & 16th 2018
Poised dramatically on the banks of the River Calder, the David Chipperfield designed Hepworth gallery provides an inspirational backdrop to our 2018 public engagement & performance conference. The gallery was voted museum of the year in 2017 ahead of the Tate Modern and the Lapworth due to its “breath-taking” exhibitions and its contribution to contemporary sculpture. As such, we believe The Hepworth Wakefield provides an inspirational backdrop to bring into focus public engagement issues, challenges and potentialities. We hope you will be able to join us.
There are a variety of ways to participate:
1. Share a conference paper or presentation
2. Deliver or take part in a workshop
3. Present a film/installation/performance
4. Watch, listen, learn, engage - there’s no requirement to present/perform
Inspirational speakers and workshops will include:
Sarah Smith, Award winning sculptor explores “Imagination & Intuition” http://www.sarahsmith.org.uk
Delia Muir, Wellcome Trust Fellow, Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Leeds. https://deliamuir.wordpress.com/author/deliamuir/
Expert panelists for in-progress sessions:
Kim Etherington, Emeritus Professor, University of Bristol.
Kitrina Douglas, Director of the Boomerang Project.
David Carless, Professor, Leeds Beckett University.
We have a dedicated “short film/documentary” stream and multi-media possibilities for performance pieces. See: http://engageyork2015.org.uk/info/
