Dear all,

Doncaster Heritage Services are recruiting a Project Officer to run our Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund Mining Project. I would be grateful if you could share with your networks.

Please see details below, apologies for cross posting

Project Officer (Museum’s Association Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund Mining project)
Grade 7 (£20,246 - £22,813 p.a. Pro Rata)
0.8 FTE
Temporary: two years from commencement
Closing date: Sunday 3 December 2017

This exciting two-year project seeks to build skills and raise aspirations in Doncaster’s ex-mining communities using Doncaster Museums’ mining collections to inspire intergenerational collaboration and encourage community cohesion.

Young people aged 15-25 from three of Doncaster’s most deprived communities will work with ex-miners and their families to explore the positives and negatives of their mining past through Doncaster Museums’ mining collections. A programme of accredited workshops will equip participants with the skills to research and explore the collection, and create innovative interpretation to bring it to a wider audience. Through the project we will evaluate the impact of participation in heritage on health and wellbeing of participants, supporting Doncaster Heritage Services in its ambition to become a sector lead in using heritage to improve community resilience.

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery and project management of this two year project. You will work alongside community partners in each of the three target areas covered by the project to recruit participants, deliver workshops and co-curate exhibitions with participants. You will also be responsible for managing the project budget, evaluating the project and supplying annual progress reports to the Project funders.

This is a part-time temporary position for two years from commencement.
