Can you answer YES to one or more of the following questions?

Are you a UK-based learning & teaching professional – academic, librarian, information manager, learning development officer/advisor?

Do you use (or have you used) any of the following online information and resource services:

Amazon

OER Commons

Merlot

Open Textbook Library

Have you ever left a review or comment on these sites or on any other site? (TripAdvisor, Trivago, Good Food, online catalogues etc.)

Have you been influenced by any reviews or comments that have either persuaded or dissuaded you from purchase or use?

Would you like to earn £40 in Amazon vouchers by taking part in a PhD research study?

My name is Virginia Power and I am an academic and PhD research student at the University of the West of England in Bristol specialising in information and knowledge management. I am researching the role and impact of social and pedagogical narratives in the use and reuse of open educational resources.

I am looking for participants who could spend a little time recording their experiences as they look for resources for learning and teaching, or for personal use. Each participant will be provided with an online cultural diary kit that will provide step by step guidance in the completion of four straightforward tasks associated with the use of online services. You can find out about how these work here:  http://www.usabilitybok.org/cultural-probe.

You will be asked to record your thoughts and actions using screencasting software (instructions will be provided – no cost involved and no download required!) You will be given up to 6 weeks to complete the four activities but of course you can complete them in less time than this if you prefer.

I really hope that you will feel able to help me with my research and as a thank you for your time you will receive the Amazon vouchers once all the tasks are complete and returned to me.

To register your interest, or to ask for further information please contact me by replying to this email as soon as possible. [log in to unmask] Thank you!
