Subject: Questions from the Group
Hi Rob,
1. Are the icons for the arrow that students must click on to access the alternate versions of content useable with screen readers?
Yes, the dropdown is definitely accessible for screen reader users.
Note that our design team is currently working on making the alternative formats option more prominent. This will remove the option from the dropdown and will make it an icon directly next to the file name, removing the
need to go through the dropdown and an extra click.
2. Are the alternate versions available on the mobile?
While the alternative formats are available when using a mobile browser, they are currently not available through the Bb Student/Blackboard app. However, content uploaded through the instructor app will be processed by
Ally (but the result will only be visible in the web UI).
There is an item on the student app roadmap to provide the Ally alternative formats through the app, but we don’t have a confirmed timeline from the mobile team yet.
Best wishes,
