Developing Educators project at QMUL - fixed term developer roles available

‘Developing Educators’ is an ambitious project designed collaboratively between the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Queen Mary University of London and Academic Development in Student and Academic Services. Its aim is to improve students’ learning experience in Science and Engineering through a focus on developing strong teaching teams. This is an opportunity to join the initial ‘scoping’ stages of the project.

We are recruiting for a number of fixed-term Developer posts, either on a full- or part-time basis. Part-time posts would be for a minimum of 2 days per week, and availability on Wednesday afternoons is required for project meetings. These posts will start immediately and will run to the end of March 2018.

In the initial project stages, the aim is to gain a fuller understanding of the practices around teaching teams across the five academic Schools in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The team will work to develop insights into the current strengths, constraints, challenges and needs of existing situations. Tasks will include observing activity in teaching spaces, talking to staff and students, mapping processes, gathering and processing documentation, and individual and collectively analysing all of this information. You will need to be able to work both independently and collaboratively to short deadlines, and should have experience and confidence in writing.

You will be based at Queen Mary’s Mile End campus; occasional travel to our other London campuses may be necessary.

Salary will be on the Grade 5 scale (£36, 677 - £43, 153 FTE per annum) depending on experience.
