The obvious question is why is the post restricted to psychiatry rather open to other relevant professions in a modern NHS?

Subject: Vacancy: Clinical Professor or Clinical Senior Lecturer in Psychiatry

Hi all

Our big local community-based Trust (Lancashire Care) and Lancaster University are advertising for a Clinical Professor or Clinical Senior Lecturer in Psychiatry as a joint post between the Trust and the University. The post is new, has a significant research component, and they are looking for someone with interest/expertise in either liaison psychiatry or learning disability. The link to the job advert is below, and there is a recruitment brochure as well. The vacancy is being handled by the recruitment firm Perrett Laver who are happy to engage in informal conversations at an early stage.

Please circulate as widely as you can, particularly amongst psychiatry communities interested in research with people with learning disabilities. It’s rare that learning disability is even mentioned in jobs like this, so it would be great to get some interest – otherwise a chance like this may not come up again…

Bye for now
