From my colleagues in Aerial Survey:
It looks pretty ephemeral, it only appears on 1 year of Google (though Google earth is dating the same photo twice 2012 &2014), not on Bing. Possibly pig
pens – see image.

Subject: Help with marks on Google
Hello All
I am hoping someone might be able to suggest what some marks on Google APs might be. They were sent to me with a (rather hopeful) idea it was underfloor heating.
It's the rectangular enclosure with rows of short parallel markings in the centre of the attached snip (or link

here), measuring about 10m by 20m. The landscape is low lying level pastureland in the bend of a river in the North Pennines, with a former mill building to the south. Nothing shows up on Bing APs, Lidar or any OS map going back to the 1860s.
I'm leaning towards some temporary land use that has left surface marks but would welcome any suggestions.
thanks
Liz
