They were sent to me with a (rather hopeful) idea it was underfloor heating. It's the rectangular enclosure with rows of short parallel markings in the centre of the attached snip (or link here), measuring about 10m by 20m. The landscape is low lying level pastureland in the bend of a river in the North Pennines, with a former mill building to the south. Nothing shows up on Bing APs, Lidar or any OS map going back to the 1860s.
