Thank you everybody for so many suggestions. I am working my way through them. Some I know but many are new.

I take Kevin's point that I didn't say which texts I am using already but there are so many! However, these are all papers which are not always the easiest starting point for students.

I should perhaps have said though that I am a human geographer so I tend to look at texts from a more geographical perspective, rather than say ecological. Although of course resilience cuts across many disciplines.

I teach both undergraduate and postgraduate university students about the concepts of vulnerability and resilience. I talk about the shift to the vulnerability paradigm and the subsequent rise of resilience.  I emphasis the contested nature of resilience. Whilst I have lots of sources I don't feel I have a good starting text which I can recommend to help students begin to get to grips with this slippery concept of resilience. Can anyone suggest a textbook or paper which would provide a good starting point for their reading.
