Dr Pablo Ghigliani (CONICET Argentina) on the Organisation of Precarious Workers in the Formal Sector: Some Recent Experiences

 

Dr Lucas Cifuentes (Universidad de Chile) on Union Revitalisation in Chile: Resources of Power and Labour Process Analysis (1990-2015)

 

Dr Fernando Duran-Palma (University of Westminster) on An Analysis of the Origins of Chile’s Subcontracted Labour Movement (1980-2006)

 

 

Maurizio is a researcher at CONICET (Argentina) and a member of CEIL (Centro de Investigaciones Laborales) in Buenos Aires. Maurizio has researched the collective organisation of workers for many years mainly within Argentina, but also looking at the global context. His recent edited book (with Manny Ness) Global Perspectives on Workers' and Labour Organisations looks at the organisation of precarious informal workers worldwide.

 

Pablo is also a researcher at CONICET (Argentina) and a member of IdIHCS (Instituto de Investigaciones en Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales) at the University of La Plata. He has carried out research on a wide range of labour issues such as trade unionism, labour market dynamics, employment, labour conflicts and labour process.

 

Lucas is at the University of Chile. He has studied the relations between productive transformations and union activity in different sectors in Chile (mining, docks, forestry and timber, and agro-industry), as well as between informal work and health in Latin America, Asia and Africa. He is currently researching the impact of Global Value Chains on working conditions and unionisation in Chile.

 

Fernando is at the University of Westminster. He has researched collective action and organisation by atypical and precarious workers in Chile for a number of years. He coordinates the activities of the newly formed Global Research Network on Collective Action and Organisation by Atypical and Precarious Workers.
