A short description of the accredited Environmental Planning pathway is available on the ESRC Wales DTP website.

Proposals related, but not limited to, the following are welcomed:

Co-supervision that takes advantage of the expertise that exists between both institutions is encouraged and welcomed. We suggest that you contact prospective supervisors well in advance of submission.

Please submit your application directly to your chosen University, using the institution’s PhD application process.  Specify that your application concerns ESRC Wales DTP studentships.

Funding

·         ESRC will not normally support any full-time student for more than four years or the part-time equivalent based on the student’s actual time commitment.

·         Successful candidates will normally be expected to commence their PhD on 1 October, 2018.

·         Full studentships cover the cost of UK/EU tuition fees, plus a tax-free maintenance grant (£14,553 per annum for 2018/2019 full-time students, updated each year); an additional £750 per annum is normally available for research expenses.

·         A ‘1+3’ studentship provides funding for four years (or part-time equivalent), completing a research training Master's in the 1st year, followed by 3 years research funding for a PhD. A ‘+3’ studentship provides funding for the three years PhD research study only (or part-time equivalent).

Academic eligibility: Candidates must have a good undergraduate honours degree at first or upper second class level

Residential eligibility: To be eligible for a full award (stipend and fees), you must:

·  have settled status in the UK, meaning there are no restrictions on how long you can stay

·  have been ‘ordinarily resident’ in the UK for three years prior to the start of the studentship grant. This means you must have been normally residing in the UK (apart from temporary or occasional absences)

·  not have been residing in the UK wholly or mainly for the purpose of full-time education. This does not apply to UK and EU nationals

To be eligible for a fees-only award, you must:
