Shops and Shopping in the Archives: a nation of recordkeepers?

Papers will cover research which has used archives for a variety of subjects around retailing, customers and consumerism. Speakers include Alan Crosby, Phil Lyon, Peter Scott, Jon Stobart, Shelley Tickell and Laura Ugolini who will cover difference aspects of shopping from the eighteenth century up to the present day.

There will also be panel discussions with archivists and historians on the preservation and loss of records of high street shops, major department stores and chain stores such as Woolworths.

This is an excellent opportunity for historians, archivists and custodians to meet and exchange information and news.

The Conference takes place on Thursday 30 November at 70 Cowcross Street, Farringdon, London EC1M 6EJ. As usual a buffet lunch will be provided.

A full programme and booking information is available on the BRA’s web site https://britishrecordsassociation.org.uk
