Hi all,

Very interesting discussion! I used the data portal in 2014 to look at the
use of audience data and data analysis skills in museums as these questions
touched on the topic of my PhD. I looked again at the data downloading it
from the data portal, especially because from a first look it seemed that
the use of data in museums was decreasing.

http://artsmetrics.com/en/digital-culture-report-2017-use-of-data-in-cultural-institutions/

If we look at the data by museums’ turnover we can see that big museums are
increasing the use of data while smaller museums are significantly
decreasing its use. I noticed that small museums represented 30% of the
survey sample in 2013 and in 2017 they represent 45% (it depends on the
question) so this may have an important impact on the aggregated results. I
know some small museums are doing great digital things and this activity
may have not been captured in the report. However, in terms of use of
audience data it seems having resources and skills is a real challenge.
