Creative Vision Board workshop

Strike a Light is running a one off creative vision board workshop on Sunday 19th November 2017. The session runs from 1-4.30pm.  All materials and refreshments included!

Vision boards help to:
* Set and prioritise goals, values, and intentions.
* Plant goals and intentions
* Seeing a vision board regularly—with images and words representing your goals, wishes, and values—helps remind you of what you want to do, be, and have.
* Ensure that you move towards these goals, both consciously and unconsciously.

Book your place here:
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/creative-vision-board-event-focus-on-your-future-tickets-35049364593

The workshop will start with a meditative journey to set new intentions and plans, followed by a supportive and informal group involving collage and visualisation to generate your most fulfilling way forward.

At the end of the afternoon, you will leave have a bespoke, inspiring and original vision board to display in your home and refer to regularly, as well as a clearer sense of the way forward for you into 2018.

£25 for the afternoon - refreshments and materials included

Mazel Tov Brighton! Tradition through Movement

Strike a Light has been awarded a grant by two Brighton based organisations Brighton and Hove Dementia Action Alliance and  The Homity Trust towards a project called Mazel tov Brighton! Movement through Tradition.

The activities celebrate links between Judaism and Brighton and Hove lives. with residents of the
Jewish Care charity run home Hyman Fine House,  many of whom were born in the city in the 1920s and 30’s and remember it well including shops, people, places and rituals. We began this project in April 2017 and due to further funding, will be able to run it until summer 2018.

The project celebrates Judaism through active aging, finding physical as well as mental ways to address early onset dementia. We will do this through dance activities and physical workshops, whilst exploring Brighton’s Jewish history, with residents of Hyman Fine House (HFH).

Reminiscence Training

All this year's reminiscence training is now fully booked with Strike a Light - Arts & Heritage. However we plan to run further training courses on this topic in 2018. If this is something you'd be interested in, then do get in touch to let us know so we can add you to our waiting list.

We also run bespoke reminiscence and oral history training courses for groups, schools, colleges and more and have done so this year for organisations such as Brighton College, Winter Warmers group, and Uxbridge College. Why not get in touch to find how we can deliver activities for you too.

Courses offer an overview of reminiscence work, including the background to the subject and will consider the benefits to be derived by both the people who reminisce and those who listen. We will explore a wide variety of reminiscence activities, which can be used to trigger personal memories and help a group to work well together.

The Barge - Summer Youth Arts Workshops

Strike a Light – Arts & Heritage had a lovely time running a week long summer youth arts residency on a floating barge in Brighton Marina this summer. We ran free drop in activities to encourage the exploration of and participation in the boat as a medium for fishing and seaside lore in the last week of the summer holidays!
