Thank you for this. Is there any chance that you can provide a link to the Draft Guidelines to save people time? 

Additionally, it may be that some members of the GNHRE network might be interested in drafting a formal GNHRE submission to this process. If that is the case, perhaps people can say so, so that the ’temperature’ can be taken, and then, perhaps, a drafting process could take place prior to making a network submission? This would not stop any enthusiastic individuals from making individual submissions, of course, but given that this is the Global Network for the Study of Human Rights and the Environment, a network submission might be a very powerful contribution, drawing on our combined expertise. Just a thought.

Below you will find a call from Special Rapporteur on Human Rights and the Environment John Knox to comment on the Draft Guidelines on Human Rights and the Environment: 

Draft Guidelines on Human Rights and the Environment.  I have prepared draft Guidelines on Human Rights and the Environment, on which I would like your views (available here in English, French, Spanish).  Drawing on my work over the past five years, the Guidelines summarize the basic human rights obligations of States on environmental matters, as they have been clarified by human rights bodies.  I will present the Guidelines to the Human Rights Council in March 2018, as part of my final set of reports.     

If you would like to provide comments on them, please do so by emailing [log in to unmask] no later than 11 November 2017.  Please indicate in the subject line of the email that you are providing comments on the draft Guidelines.
