We have only used POP for BTEC’s up to now, the same as yourself, but will be rolling it out for Functional Skills over half term week. 

We have had a problem with the test violation ending tests in the past with the BTEC’s.  Our IT bods said it was due to certain programmes running on the PC’s which automatically update themselves.  To the test platform, if this happens when a test is running, even though that programme is not running open at the time, the test platform reads it as the candidate trying to access the Internet. 

The only resolution is to not have any other programmes installed on the PC’s be used.  If this is the case, then it’s back to Edexcel for an answer.

Hi All

 

Although we used Pearson POP for a handful of tests for BTECs in the past, we are having some issues since the transition of FS from Promissor.

 

I’ve been asked to find out whether other centres are experiencing issues too before taking this to Pearson…

 

Aside from problems where we have had to delete data files and re-create accounts on both the Admin Dashboard and Invigilator Dashboard we are experiencing lots of issues during tests where learners are being disconnected or are experiencing test violations.  We use the magic password in terms of the latter but problems with disconnected tests are resulting in learners having to start tests from the beginning again or just walk away when issues cannot be resolved.  We got to the point on Friday when Edexcel told us not only to crash the PCs we were having test problems on, but to actually unplug them too.  I am advised by people in the know that this must be some kind of joke as it wouldn’t have any positive effect J
